Skywatch Friday: Tarbat Ness Lighthouse, Portmahomac

Taken in 2006 with my Canon ixus ( aka SD30) compact camera. Tarbat Ness lighthouse stands on a point of land just north west of the seaside town of Portmahomac in the highland region of Scotland. The lighthouse like many of the Northern Lighthouse Board lighthouses was built by Robert Stevenson.

Skywatch Friday: Inferno Sunset

Taken on August 28th.

This sunset was so spectacular I took 6 photographs of it and the cloud formations as they passed over our garden, this probably one of our best ones yet I think. I used Landscape scene mode to shoot them, normally I would use the Sunset one, however that was a little too red in colour for this and the camera wouldn't focus in Automatic so I chose the infinity focus mode.

Monochrome Weekend: Callender House, Falkirk

We visited Callender House the other day, the Mansion was handed over to the Falkirk Council in 1962 and is open daily. The Georgian Kitchens have been restored to their original appearance and food is cooked to their original recipes of the time.



This is one of my images of the house rendered in Black and White using adjustment layers in Photoshop CS4 ( Black and White and Lighter RGB Curve).
