My Gear
I currently own a Nikon D5100 DSLR with the following lenses:
Nikkor AF-S 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 VR G ED
Nikkor AF-S 50mm f1.8 G ED
Nikkor AF-S VR 70-300 f4.5-5.6G IF-ED
I shoot in RAW format and edit the images in either Photoshop CS6 or Lightroom 5.

They are adorable! I believe this behaviour is not only a cosmetic help but also the expression of friendship between animals. In our family it is my female dog who gives such a wash to my cat! :-)

Yes I do think its kind of the cat/dog version of a kiss, of course one minute they are doing this and the next minute they are fighting each other LOL.
