The ruined remains of Linlithgow Palace, resides in the West Lothian town of Linlithgow, surrounded by Peel Park and Lake. Beside the ruins is St Michaels church which is topped with a modern crown ( apparently the original Gothic style crown was removed as it was thought to be too heavy for the structure). The palace was home to many of the Scottish Royal Family and most famously the birthplace and childhood home of Mary Queen of Scots. The palace was gutted by fire in the 1700's and the church still bares the scars or bullet holes from Cromwells followers.
