I noticed some mulberries ripening on my walk yesterday, delicious spring fruit. I've not seen blackberries growing.

Hi there - nice shot! Blackberries are just part of a long list of things I miss from the English countryside.

Having said that I do now have parrots, platypus and sunshine!

Cheers - Stewart M - Australia

@ One: Aww, thank you-that's nice of you to say that:)

@ Pieces: Never seen Mulberries but I checked some photos on the web and they look like a Hybrid of these. There are lots of blackberries out at the moment here in Scotland.

@ Stewart: I would love to swap, weather here is dreadful, not sure I want the poisonous spiders though.

I wonder why the birds have left this one alone, but I'm glad they did. Wonderful shot!

Jane said...

@ Roan: Yes they do seem to be a target for birds, I guess they hadn't seen it yet, since it was probably newly grown. Anyway, I reckon the Loch is providing them with some food for the moment. Thanks for dropping by:)

That's a lovely picture of the blackberry. Ours are nearly finished now - are yours still going strong?

Jane said...

@ Ellie: Yes, they seem to be-these looked newly grown and there are some growing on the grass verge just down the road from us that are coming out. So they seem to growing in abundance.

Great macro shot of the berries. Here in our area they are saying that the wild blackberries are in danger from some type of an insect (can't recall what it is though)taking over.
