Wonderful shot of the canal lock. They are interesting to watch, especially when they are lifting the boats.

This is a lovely photo of the canal lock. I grew up in England and used to love watching the barges go through these.

A very nostalgic view. I love the reeds caught up by the passing water.

Cool! This reminds me of some of the locks on the Trent-Severn Waterway here in Ontario! How neat to see yours. :)

A nice little house by the canal would suit me just fine.

Are there fish there? Are these for flood control? I dont we have these in the Philippines.

What a nice picture of the lock. I wouldn't want to pass there with a boat if I had to work the lock ;)

Thanks everyone:)

@ A and Y: the lock near the Falkirk Wheel said 2001 on it, so its fairly new.

I used to like the Canal at Crinan in Argyll, I think that one was older.

@ Dinah: I think there are fish there, I don't think its for flood control.

@Lyndsay: It was fairly quiet there apart from the people talking at the pub, and at least it was decent weather.

That's a great shot. I like the contrast of sides. Your area reminds me of the area around Eureka in Northern California, way up near the Oregon border. I think quite a few Scottish families migrated to that area in the 19th century.

I remember small/ makeshift canal locks in the Philippines when they were irrigating a certain rice field. Sometimes they used sandbags. This one looks easier & very convenient to lock the water in. :)

@ Tricia: Thanks, hope you have a great week:)

@ Su siee Mac: Eureka sounds very pretty, I should imagine its very picturesque. Thanks for enjoying the photo.

Thanks everyone for visiting, sorry about the moderation but I am sick of that Spam rubbish that comes up.

Really nice scene here. I have a brand new granddaughter, two days old, and they named her Jane. The name is coming back.
